The Gustavo de Maeztu Museum presents the exhibition “Thread in the City” by artist Teresa Sabat\u00e9<\/strong><\/p>\n

The exhibition “Thread in the city” can be visited from 11 October to 10 December 2023. It is made up of several pieces of different sizes that relate life experiences by combining the technique of thread with colour<\/p>\n

From 11 October to 10 December 2023, the Gustavo de Maeztu Museum is hosting a selection of works by the artist Teresa Sabat\u00e9 in the temporary exhibition hall.<\/p>\n

The exhibition is made up of small and large format images, creating a journey, a trip, through everyday life. Teresa works combining painting and drawing with sewing techniques. The pieces are made from an avant-garde point of view, by combining the technique of sewing with coloured thread and enhanced with spots of acrylic paint.<\/p>\n

These works are made with nothing more than his particular sewing hook. The pencil stroke is replaced by the coloured thread that goes through the canvas and weaves lines that form a story, acting as a metaphor for the relationships that are established with the people close to him and the places he frequents. She draws on her life experiences and her everyday surroundings to create scenes of everyday places, people close to her and her loved ones.<\/p>\n

The journey is a recurring theme in her work, the objects, sensations and conversations that are collected during the journey are materialised in the artist’s works. The journey, more than a physical displacement, becomes a space for reflection and a continuous negotiation of the work.<\/p>\n

She paints with threads, small moments and vital maps with essences and colour. In this way, cartography becomes a personal matter. She brings us closer to concepts such as “path” and “cartography” as ways of understanding our identity and territory, inviting us to explore different pictorial processes and plastic creation.<\/p>\n

Through her works she recounts events and experiences, works made of threads, fabrics and stains of colour that retrace her own biography. With this work, she pays homage to other women creators who have influenced her and also to dressmakers, from whom she borrows the thread technique present in her pieces.<\/p>\n

Teresa Sabat\u00e9 <\/strong>(Pamplona, 1955). Dedicated to painting since 1981. She has had solo exhibitions in numerous galleries in Pamplona such as “Sala Conde Rodezno, Polvor\u00edn de la Ciudadela, Galer\u00eda Pintzel…” and also in the cities of Tudela, San Sebasti\u00e1n, Toledo, Barcelona and Madrid. He has participated in many group exhibitions such as Mapamundistas and Nafarroa Oinez, among others. His participation in the Government of Navarre’s Landarte-2019 programme and Habitaci\u00f3n at the Huarte Centre are some of his projects, both carried out together with Virginia Santos. For some years now, in addition to her artistic work, she has been giving painting and drawing classes for different age groups in her workshop in Pamplona.<\/p>\n

The exhibition is part of the museum’s annual programme and has been coordinated by the art historian Silvia Corrales, together with the museum management and the artist herself. Admission to this exhibition is free and it can be visited from Tuesday to Saturday, from 9:30 am to 1:30 pm; Sundays and public holidays, from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm.<\/p>\n
